SALM LI
Trugaredd dod i mi,
  Duw, o'th ddaioni tyner;
Ymaith tyn fy anwiredd mau;
  O'th drugareddau lawer.

A golch fi yn llwyr ddwys
  Oddi wrth fawr bwys fy meiau;
Fy Arglwydd, gwna'n bur lân fyfi,
  Rhag brynti fy nghamweddau.

Mewn pechod lluniwyd fi,
  Ac mewn drygioni dygas:
Felly yr wyf o groth fy mam
  Yn byw bob cam yn adgas.

Ag isop golch fi'n lân,
  Ni byddaf aflan mwyach;
Byddaf o'm golchi'n llwyr fel hyn
  Fel eira gwyn, neu wynach.

Pâr imi weled hedd,
  Gorfoledd a llawenydd,
I adnewyddu f'esgyrn i,
  A ddrylliaist Ti â cherydd.

Duw, crëa galon bur,
  Dod imi gysur beunydd,
I fyw yn well tra fwy'n y byd,
  Dod ynof ysbryd newydd.

O Dduw, na ddyro chwaith
  Fi ymaith o'th olygon,
Ac na chymer dy Ysbryd Glân,
  Oddiwrthyf, druan gwirion.

[Na fwrw fi, mewn gwg
   Yn llwyr o'th olwg allan;
 Ac na chymmer dy Ysbryd Glân,
   Oddi wrthyf, druan egwan.]

Gorfoledd dwg i mi
  Drwy roddi im dy iechyd,
A chynnal â'th ysbrydol ddawn
  Fi i fyw'n uniawn hefyd.

[Rho im' orfoledd llawn
   Dy gyflawn iachawdwriaeth;
 A chynnal fi, bechadur gwael,
   A'th Yspryd hael yn helaeth.]

Duw, agor y min mau,
  Â'm genau mi a ganaf,
O! Arglwydd, gerdd o'th fawl a'th nerth,
  Wel dyna'r aberth pennaf.

Aberthau Duw i gyd
  Yw ysbryd pur drylliedig;
Ac ni ddiystyri, O! Dduw Iôn,
  Y galon gystuddiedig.

Bydd dda wrth Sïon fryn,
  O Arglwydd, hyn a fynni:
Ac wrth Gaersalem, dy dref-tâd,
  A gwna adeilad arni.

PSALM 51
Mercy give to me,
  O God, from thy tender goodness;
Take away my falsehood;
  From thy many mercies.

And wash me completely thoroughly
  From the great weight of my sins;
MY Lord, make mem purely clean,
  From the filthiness of my misdeeds.

In sin I was fashioned,
  And in detestable wickedness:
So I am from my mother's womb
  Living every step detestably.

With hyssop wash me clean,
  I will be unclean no longer;
I shall be from my washing completely thus
  Like white snow, or whiter.

Provide for me to see peace,
  Jubilation and joy,
To renew my bones,
  Which Thou didst break with chastisement.

God, create a pure heart,
  Give me comfort daily,
To live better while I am in the world,
  Put in me a new spirit.

O God, neither turn
  Me away from thy sight,
And do not take thy Holy Spirit,
  From me, a foolish wretch.

[Do not cast me, in a frown
   Completely from thy sight, out;
 And do not take thy Holy Spirit,
   Away from me, a weak wretch.]

Jubilation bring to me
  Through giving me thy salvation,
And support with thy spiritual gift
  Me to live uprightly also.

[Give me the full jubilation
   Of thy righteous salvation;
 And support me, a poor sinner,
   With thy generous Spirit widely.]

God, open my lip,
  With my mouth I will sing,
O Lord, music of thy fame and thy strength,
  Behold, this is the chief sacrifice.

All the sacrifices of God
  Are a pure broken spirit;
And thou wilt not disdain, O Lord God,
  The afflicted heart.

Be good to Zion hill,
  O Lord, which thou dost will:
And to Jerusalem, thy father's town,
  And build upon it.

tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion

PSAL. LI.
 1 Have mercy, Lord, on me,
     as thou wert ever kind;
   Let me, oppressed with loads of guilt,
     thy wonted mercy find.

 2 Wash off my foul offence,
    and cleanse me from my sin;
   For I confess my crime, and see
    how great my guilt has been.

 5 In guilt each part was formed
     of all this sinful frame;
   In guilt I was conceived, and born
     the heir of sin and shame.

 7 With hyssop purge me, Lord,
     and so I clean shall be;
   I shall with snow in whiteness vie,
     when purified by thee.

 8 Make me to hear with joy
     thy kind forgiving voice;
   That so the bones which thou hast broke
     may with fresh strength rejoice.

 9 Blot out my crying sins,
     nor me in anger view;
10 Create in me a heart that's clean,
     an upright mind renew.

11 Withdraw not thou thy help,
     nor cast me from thy sight;
   Nor let thy holy Spirit take
     its everlasting flight.

[11 Withdraw not thou thy help,
      nor cast me from thy sight;
    Nor let thy holy Spirit take
      its everlasting flight.]

12 The joy thy favour gives
     let me again obtain;
   And thy free Spirit's firm support
     my fainting soul sustain.

[12 The joy thy favour gives
      let me again obtain;
    And thy free Spirit's firm support
      my fainting soul sustain.]

15 Do thou unlock my lips,
     with sorrow closed and shame;
   So shall my mouth thy wondrous praise
     to all the world proclaim.

17 A broken spirit is
     by God most highly prized;
  By him a broken contrite heart
     shall never be despised.

18 Let Zion favour find,
     of thy good-will assured;
   And thy own city flourish long,
     by lofty walls secured.
